Creating Your First Patent
This guide walks you through creating your first patent application in PatentPublish.
Step 1: Start a New Patent

The patent editor has three view modes:
- Sections View: Edit each patent section individually (recommended)
- Raw View: Edit the full HTML content directly
- Preview View: See how your patent will look when exported
Step 3: Fill in Patent Metadata
Click "Application Information" to enter:
- Inventors: Names, addresses, and citizenship
- Applicant: The entity applying for the patent
- Assignee: Who owns the patent rights
- Attorney Docket Number: Your internal reference number
Step 4: Write Patent Sections
A USPTO patent application includes these sections:

Select sections you want to generate or improve, then:

Patent figures help explain your invention:
Step 7: Save and Export
- Your work auto-saves every 2 seconds
- Click "Save" to manually save
- Use Export to download as DOCX or PDF
