Export your patent in various formats for filing.

Export Options

PatentPublish supports multiple export formats optimized for different patent offices.

DOCX Export (USPTO)

The primary format for USPTO filing:

  • Click "Export as DOCX" in the sidebar
  • Choose patent office format (USPTO default)
  • File downloads automatically
  • DOCX Formatting

    • Font: Times New Roman 12pt
    • Margins: 1" top/bottom/right, 1.5" left
    • Line Spacing: 1.5 lines
    • Headers: Section headings in uppercase

    PDF Export

    For review and EPO submissions:

  • Click "Export as PDF"
  • PDF opens in new tab
  • Print or save from browser
  • PDF Features

    • Includes all figures inline
    • Preserves formatting exactly
    • Good for client review

    SVG Drawings Export

    For USPTO drawing submission:

  • Click "Export Drawings (SVG)"
  • Downloads ZIP file containing:
  • - FIG_1.svg

    - FIG_2.svg

    - etc.

    Drawing Requirements

    • Black and white only
    • No shading or color
    • Text must be legible
    • Reference numbers required

    Troubleshooting

    "Export Failed"

    • Ensure all required sections have content
    • Check that figures are valid SVG
    • Try saving first, then export

    Formatting Issues

    • Use Preview mode to check before export
    • Verify metadata is complete
    • Check for special characters
